Today I learnt that the longest year ever was 46 BC. It lasted for 445 days in order to bring the calendar properly in line with the sun. Julius Caesar introduced this change thus reforming the Roman calendar. Today many countries use an even more accurate version of this system - The Gregorian calendar which was first introduced in the 16th Century.
