Today I learnt that the "Dada" anti-art movement was a precursor to surrealism and flourished during World War 1 in the neutral country of Switzerland. (Zurich). Artists would, for example, present ordinary objects removed from their everday context as art or produce nonsense automatic drawing. The movement was a reaction against the traditional art establishment and expressed a strong anti-war stance.
