Today I learnt that circa 4 – 5 thousand years ago man developed the ability to create the alloy bronze by mixing copper with tin. Veins of copper ore (eg. green Malachite in limestone) were mined out. Then the crushed copper ore was smelted at a very high temperature – turning it into pure liquid copper which, combined with tin, was poured into moulds. (Drying to create very strong tools and weapons).
