516

516) 30/9/2009

Today I learnt about a curious athletic training phenomenon called ‘Yasso 800s’. Apparently if you can run 10 sets of 800m repetitions at 3 minutes each, with 3 minutes recovery-jogging between each interval, then you will be in shape for a 3 hour marathon. Equally, if you can do them at 3 minutes 30 apiece then you’re in shape for a 3 and a half hour marathon. Peculiar, nonsensical yet if you build this method of interval training up week-by-week and successfully complete the 10 800s 2 weeks before the marathon then you are in line to achieve whatever the interval timings suggest. Cosmic.
