Today I learnt that Overkill is the use of excessive force or action that goes further than is necessary to achieve its goal. For example, using a sledgehammer to crack a hazelnut, using a flamethrower to light a candle or killing an ant with a rocket launcher. I learnt that you can call these absurd acts overkill!

Considering Bolt's age I believe he could get down to somewhere in the 9.3 region with the right conditions and conditioning but requires the magnificent competition that Gay gave him tonight.

Today I learnt that in late 19th century Britain there was a short-lived period of early organised athletics where professional runners engaged in well-attended and much-publicised races. This came before the years of amateurism and international competition. The record time for the mile was gradually reduced in this period towards the 4 minute mark. I myself managed to get my mile time down to 5 minutes exactly today and I cannot imagine running much faster - so much respect for these athletes!
